Gay Cowboys

The New York Times has an interesting article on real life gay cowboys reactions to the film Brokeback Mountain.

The film is absolutely wonderful. It got me teary eyed, and leaves you with a very strong impression, the way that only excellent films do. If I had been born a few decades earlier and a bit further west, it could easily have been the story of my life. I give this film my highest recommendation. If you are considering seeing it, do. You will not be disappointed.

I was so pleased to read your post and agree with you completely. I'm sure this story could have been been the sotry of any one of thousands of men. Even though the global community seems to be opening up to the idea of gays, I'm not sure the views expressed in the movie are all that different than current opinions. Personally, I lived in fear that should anyone in my Montana high school find out my life & well being would be in jeopardy.

For that reason alone, movies like Brokeback Mountain need to be made and the public exposed to them. Otherwise the hate may never end.

I thought this film was great too. I hadn't been to see a movie at the cinema for a couple of years.

However my boredom with Hollywood rubbish evaporated when I saw this masterpiece and I went to see it five times in quick succession.
